It was teacher's day.
A primary 6 class planned to surprise their
teacher when came into the class.
However,
when the teacher stepped into the classroom,
the students surprised her.
The teacher was of course, very surprised.
After that scene,
the teacher told the students to settle down into their
seats, she has something important to say.
She thanked the class,
for the surprise,
for being wonderful and that she had not had any
problems with anyone or whatsoever.
She seemed happy.
But all of a sudden,
she started tearing.
The students were shocked.
But they remained silent.
She said,



Class, I am not interested in whatever your
results are.
I'm interested in YOUR future.
Whatever you acheive in the future like i said,
does not benefit me.
And I take thise job very seriously.
It's the job that will pay me the money i that i
need to feed my family with.
And i take it very seriously.
I would not get a pay rise or a bonus.
But, I will be very proud to know that I am
a teacher of a class that is responsible, smart.
Once again,
I did not say that because of my pride,
not because I wna show off to Mr. Foo.
I do not want results.
I WANT you guys to work hard.
I AM NOT GIVING UP ON YOU!
I have seen kids crying,
because they have not done well.
I do not want that to happen to you guys.
I want to see tears,
but not tears of sadness but
tears of joy...
Tears of joy that you have done well!
And class,
once again,
Please just for this last month,
whether you think I'm begging you or anything,
Put whatever you have right now into your studies.
And, always remember,
I WILL NEVER GIVE UP ON YOU!

Upon hearing that,
the students started to tear as well.
The teacher continued, with tears in her eyes,

I am not saying this to make you cry.
I can understand that today is suppose to be a
joyous day.
Maybe, it's my fault.
I haven't done my part as a GOOD teacher.
It's my fault.
But,
I have to tell you this,
Maybe you won't understand now.
But I know,
you will one day...

The kids went for reccess,
filled with guilt that they hadn't
done their part as a good student.
When they came back from recess,
Their teacher had left a not on the whiteboard,

I WILL NOT GIVE UP ON YOU 6_.
LETS WORK HARD TOGETHER!
This entire happening would melt a heart
of stone.

It was teacher's day.
And the class that i mentioned,
was 6Charity, which was,
My class...
The teacher that i mentioned was,
Ms. Vanitha.
She is a marvellous teacher.
I know that.
Its just that I have not done my part as a student...
Did you know the word 'Heart' is found in the word
'Teacher'?
It is not a coincidence.
Its just formed like that.
Till now, the guilt remains in my heart.
